Hello. I’m Sophie.
I’m hoping if you’ve come this far, you like my work (yay!) and are hoping to learn a little bit more about me and what makes me tick!
Grab a cuppa and a slice of cake, take a seat and get ready for my story. Well you did ask!
As a child my Dad took great pains to get me to realise that this moment in time, this life, is fleeting. That moment, that was just here, is gone forever. You can never get it back.
He used to say “Look. Look around you. Really take everything in. Commit it to memory. ”
Over the years his passion for nature, life and its fragility inspired me to pick up a camera. I’ve been snapping away, first in film, now digital since I was a kid.
High days, holidays and all the inbetween days, I was there, capturing those moments.
God love my mother for paying to have all those early films developed so I could pour over the images and imagine I was back in time. In that place, with those people. Reliving memories. Reaching back through time.
It was sitting overlooking a Cornish beach, planning my own wedding that I realised this is what I wanted to do. Capture these memories for other people, so they too could relive them.
The intimacy of a mother getting her child ready for their special day. The hush of the church before the processional music plays. The energy, excitement and joy of the reception and speeches. The first dance. That soulful proclamation of love throughout the day.
The father giving away his daughter.
I love capturing THAT moment. The moment that speaks to you. That tells a story. That is why I love weddings.
I am blessed to capture those moments. Your love.
Warm, joyful and honest images.
A window, through which, the future can see the past.
Natural moments you will treasure forever.
